Does banning texting in cars really reduce accidents?

There has been a large statewide push to ban text messaging while driving. The thought behind the initiative is to reduce accidents caused by negligence.

Early studies from states that already have the ban in place show no reduction in traffic accidents. The thought is that more people are now moving to hands free headsets and are still just as distracted because more of their focus is on the conversation and not the road.
