Texting is an increasingly popular mode of communication. More than 600 billion text messages were sent in the United States in 2008 and this number has only increased. Although young people are more apt to use texting technology, older Americans are also embracing the new texting technology.

The military standard phone, offered by Sprint, can withstand drops, dust and changes in temperature. A 2.2 inch screen and a full keyboard allows users to easily text family and friends. The LG Cosmos Touch is another top-rated phone for texting. This phone has a 2.8 inch touchscreen and sliding full keyboard. The LG Cosmos Touch is offered by U.S. Cellular and Verizon. The Motorola Droid Pro is another popular texting phone with a full keyboard. With a screen size of over 3 inches, the Motorola Droid Pro, from Verizon Wireless, is simple to use.

Many states have passed laws to prevent motorists from texting while driving. Thirty five states, Guam and Washington, D.C. have these laws, which has been incorporated from 2008 to 2011. A number of countries also have laws regarding texting, including Canada, Germany and England. Foreign countries text messaging laws have also been implemented in the past three years, since texting has become increasingly popular.
Although texting while driving can be dangerous, texting overall has a number of benefits. Learning texting etiquette is necessary as more and more people are choosing to text instead of talk. Some businesses allow you to text the reception desk to schedule or cancel appointments instead of calling making it more efficient for both the consumer and the business.
